The India tour of New Zealand so far

Shreyas Iyer captains India’s T20I side and Mitchell Santner leads New Zealand. In the first T20I at Hagley Oval on 22 October, India chose to bowl and New Zealand made 225 for 4, Glenn Phillips 82 not out from 40 balls; it was New Zealand’s highest T20I total against India. The result and the series score are on the match scorecard and are added here at the weekly update. India’s squad includes Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

New Zealand matches start in the Indian early morning or early afternoon, when exchange liquidity is lower than in the evening; spreads are wider for the first overs. Home series in December and January fall in Indian afternoons and evenings and trade deepest. The full season calendar, including overseas leagues, is on the cricket betting page.

Live Cricket Match Phases – Powerplay, Middle Overs & Death Overs for Bettors

How live cricket odds move, phase by phase

A T20 price moves on wickets more than runs, and on the required rate against wickets in hand once a chase starts. The ranges below are typical of recent international T20s and are given for orientation, not as quotes.

PhaseWhat mattersHow the match-odds price behaves
TossDew at evening venues, a turning pitch in day matchesThe side expected to benefit shortens by a few ticks within a minute
Powerplay (overs 1–6)Wickets; field restrictionsTwo early wickets move the price more than 20 runs above the session line
Middle overs (7–15)Spin, run rate against par for the groundGradual drift towards whichever side is ahead of par
Death overs (16–20)Boundary rate, set battersLarge moves on each boundary or wicket; the first-innings total resets the market at the break
ChaseRequired rate against wickets in handThe chasing side’s price can move from 1.30 to 3.00 within one over in the last four

In ODIs the same pattern runs slower, with the middle overs and any DLS recalculation driving prices. In Tests the draw price is the one to watch: it drifts on a flat pitch until the fourth day and collapses when a side starts winning sessions. The back-then-lay worked example on the cricket betting page shows how a powerplay move is traded.

When live markets suspend, and the bet delay

EventWhat happens
WicketMarkets suspend and reopen once re-priced, usually within seconds
DRS review or third-umpire checkSuspended until the decision
Rain or bad lightSuspended for the stoppage; sessions may be voided if the block cannot be completed
Innings breakMatch odds stay open; first-innings sessions settle; second-innings lines open
Every bet in playHeld for a short delay, shown on the market, before it reaches the ladder; if the market suspends during the delay the bet is rejected

Matched bets are unaffected by a suspension. Unmatched bets stay on the ladder unless you cancel them, so review them after every wicket. Television runs several seconds behind the ground and streaming apps often much more; use the platform’s scorecard, not the picture, to decide when to bet.

Advanced Live Match Data Points – What Top Exchange Bettors Read Beyond the Score

Reading a live scorecard for session and fancy markets

Scorecard itemWhat it tells a session or fancy bettor
Current run rate and par for the groundWhether the current session line is above or below the pace already being scored
Overs left for each bowlerWho bowls the next block; a frontline bowler’s return usually pushes the session line down
Batters’ scores and balls facedSet batters accelerate; a new batter slows the next two or three overs
Partnership runs and ballsThe basis of partnership fancy markets and a guide to fall-of-wicket lines
ExtrasExtras count in session runs; a wayward attack pushes totals over
Wickets in handIn the death overs, wickets in hand matter more to the session total than the run rate so far
Required rate (second innings)The single biggest driver of match odds in a chase

Every session and fancy market carries a rule note. Read it before your first bet on that market, because the void conditions differ.

Weather, Pitch Conditions & DLS – What Live Match Conditions Mean for Bettors

Rain, DLS and what happens to live bets

  • Match odds: a DLS result stands as the result; if no result is possible the market is void and stakes returned.
  • Sessions: blocks completed before the rain stand. An incomplete block is void unless the line had already been passed, in which case the over side wins.
  • Fancy: player markets settle on the scorecard at the end of the shortened match; events that can no longer happen are void.
  • Prices during a stoppage: the side ahead of the DLS par score shortens while it rains, because a washout would hand it the match. The par score is shown on the platform scorecard.

New Zealand’s spring weather makes interruptions more likely on this tour than in India, and early-morning starts mean dew is not a factor in the Christchurch and Wellington matches.

Responsible live betting

Live cricket offers a new decision every ball, and a T20 has about 240 of them. Decide before the toss how many live bets you will place and the most you will stake in total, count lay liability as the stake, and stop at either limit. Set a deposit limit, a loss limit and a session reminder under Account, then Responsible Gaming; they apply immediately. Free help is available in India from Tele-MANAS on 14416, the Vandrevala Foundation on +91 9999 666 555 and iCall on +91 9152987821. The responsible gaming page has the warning signs. Laser247 is for adults aged 18 and over only, and betting law in India is a state matter.

Frequently asked questions about live cricket matches

What live cricket matches are on today?

The fixture table at the top of this page lists this week's international matches with IST start times, updated weekly. On 22 October 2026 New Zealand host India in the first T20I at Christchurch at 12:30 PM IST, and the series continues on 24, 27 and 30 October and 1 November.

What time do India's matches in New Zealand start?

The T20Is start at 12:30 PM IST. The ODIs from 4 November and the Tests from 19 November start in the Indian early morning.

Where can I watch India vs New Zealand live in India?

On Sony Sports Network on TV and SonyLIV online. India's home series and the IPL are shown by JioStar on Star Sports and JioHotstar.

Can I bet while the match is in progress?

Yes. Match odds, session and fancy markets stay open ball by ball, with a short bet delay and automatic suspensions at wickets, reviews and rain.

Why did my live bet get rejected?

The market suspended during the bet delay, usually because of a wicket or review. Place bets between balls and use the platform's scorecard rather than a stream.

What happens to live bets if it rains?

A DLS result stands for match odds; no result voids it. Completed session blocks stand, incomplete ones are void unless the line was already passed, and player markets settle on the final scorecard.

When is the next India home series?

Sri Lanka tour India from 13 to 27 December 2026 for three ODIs and three T20Is, followed by Zimbabwe for three ODIs in January and the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia from 21 January 2027.
